Shower door glass and finish options
Beyond the style of door, two choices shape how a shower door looks day to day: the glass itself, and the hardware finish. Both are worth thinking about before asking for an estimate.
Clear glass
Clear glass keeps the shower feeling open and shows off tilework. It also shows water spots more readily, so it suits people who do not mind wiping it down regularly, or who have softer water.
Frosted and patterned glass
Frosted glass gives privacy while still letting light through, and patterned glass adds texture. Both hide water spots better than clear glass, which can mean less visible upkeep between cleanings.
Tinted glass
Light tints, such as grey or bronze tones, can soften the look of a bathroom and pair well with certain tile colors. They darken the shower slightly, so they work best in bathrooms with good lighting.
Hardware finishes
Common finishes include chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, and brass tones. Matching the finish to your existing faucets and fixtures usually looks most coherent, but contrasting finishes are also common. If you have a preference, mentioning it with your estimate request helps narrow things down.
When you ask for an estimate, a note about the glass type you are leaning toward, any finish preference, the rough size of your opening, and your location is a good starting point.
